From the age of 16 I attempted yoga out of books & in many different classes but wasn't satisfied until in 1986 I finally found my way into a Gita class. What I loved & deeply responded to was its rhythm, its logical intelligence and its predictability and that it wasn't just physical instructions but that these were accompanied by wisdoms and guidelines.
What I appreciated was how the language used was simple, unpretentious & non-intellectual and analogies of explanation were humorous & relevant so the classes engaged me with this directness of reach, having an absence of over-detailed directions or long Sanskrit names.
What I cherish now as a teacher (since 1989) is to be in the role of the 'conductor' and facilitating the experiences which steadily & incrementally remove that sense of life as something that happens to you and replace it with an increasing confidence regarding the causes behind events and the capacity to choose which path you're going down, “Enter through the narrow gate for wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and those who follow it are many. Enter through the narrow gate for small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and those who find it are few".
I hope you can also find your way to join this unimaginably rewarding 'queue for the few'!
